Who we are
The person responsible for your data is:
Patrick Duff, trading as DOU., Switzerland
c/o ABC Office, Rue de Morges 22, 1023 Crissier, Switzerland
Write to us at privacy@doufragrance.com. It’s also the contact for our Information Officer under South Africa’s POPIA.
What we collect
- When you browse: nothing that identifies you.
- When you subscribe: your email address.
- When you buy: your name, delivery address, email address and your order.
The tools we use
- Cloudflare hosts this site. It’s based in the US. Its servers keep short-lived logs, including IP addresses, for security.
- Plausible counts visits. It’s based in the EU. It uses no cookies and stores no personal data.
- Klaviyo sends our newsletter. It’s based in the US. It gets your email address only when you subscribe, sent from our server. We never load Klaviyo on this site.
- Our payment provider runs the checkout on its own site. Its privacy policy applies there.
- A weather service gives us the weather at Cape St Francis for the sky on our home page. Our server asks for it; your browser never contacts the service, and nothing about you is sent.
- Your browser keeps one note for us, in session storage, called
dou-arrived. It makes the dawn replay play once per visit. It’s cleared when you close the tab, and it’s never sent to us.
Where your data goes to the US, the provider’s safeguards for international transfers apply.
The dawn cam
The sky on our home page is calculated from the sun’s position over Cape St Francis, with the weather there added as it changes. A camera looking over the reserve will add the real sky. It isn’t running yet.
When it is, we’ll publish colour readings, not footage. The camera masks paths, roads and houses before anything is recorded.
How long we keep it
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
- Orders: as long as Swiss accounting law requires. Today that’s 10 years.
- Visit counts: Plausible keeps totals only, never individual visits.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- show you the data we hold about you
- correct it
- delete it
- stop using it
- send it to you, or to another service
- stop, if you gave consent. Unsubscribing does this for the newsletter.
You can also complain to a regulator: the FDPIC in Switzerland, your local data protection authority in the EU, or the Information Regulator in South Africa.
These rights come from Swiss data protection law (nFADP), the EU’s GDPR and South Africa’s POPIA. Write to privacy@doufragrance.com. We reply within 30 days.
